About Hayabusa Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Gis

Hayabusa is actually a Japanese word for the Peregrine Falcon. This falcon is a predator best known for its power, speed and strength — the very same attributes that are possessed by the combat athletes that make use of their products.

Hayabusa is mostly known for their MMA clothing, but they also make a pretty nice BJJ gi. Their gis are made entirely of ripstop fabric, but their most unique feature is that they have a stretch inseam similar to most mma shorts. This very unique feature sets Hayabusa apart from other brands.

They also dabble in contrast stitching, but their gis tend to be very pricey.

Atama Mundial 9

The Atama Mundial 9 is Atama’s most recent offering since the Mundial #7 (successor to the Mundial #5). The most noticeable change from the mundial 7 to the Atama Mundial 9 is the change in looks.

The Mundial 9 is the exact same material as the Mundial 7 and the same cut. The most noticeable difference is the change in embroidery.

Just like the Mundial 7, the 9 has no seam in the back, and the jacket is made from one piece of material.

War Tribe Trifecta of Gis

Ever look at a company’s products and wonder how they stack up against each other? Ever wonder if a gi company’s product line has variances in quality? I know I have.

I recently received not one but three gis from War Tribe Gear for the purpose of review. The products I received are: the Black Widow gi, the Precision Gi and the Flow Gi. All three gis are made of War Tribe’s honeycomb weave, which is probably the softest I’ve ever seen. I am apprehensive of the durability of the gis but other reviews I’ve read make it clear that these gis age well.

I purchased an Atama Leticia Ribeiro Edition gi toward the middle of December after realizing that, without my own washing machine, if I’d be training 3-4 times a week, I’d need more than one gi. My first gi is a Fenom and while I love it, I wanted to see what else might be out there and this one caught my eye.

I’m pretty happy with the overall quality of this Fuji gi. The size I received is a W1. It’s not only cost-effective but also durable and well made.

However, I do feel that it could be further adjusted to fit petite women better. I don’t see there being any issues with this gi if you are 5’3” and above, but because I am just under 5’2” it did need some shrinking to fit well.
