Ok! Kimonos Adult Premium Training Gi Review
This blue gi will not leave you with the blues (unless that is what you choose to listen to while training, then I stand corrected.)
Intro
Who knew the man behind GiReviews.net would be able to make a top-notch gi? Go Figgie. Brendan and I thought it would be a hoot to play trading-places for the day and I now have control of his site while he is running wild over on GrapplerGourmet.com! So he generously sent me one of his Ok! Kimonos Premium Training Gis and I sent him to the grocery store. Sounds like a fair trade right? Luckily websites are all digital so there’s no risk of me burning it to the ground by mistake, so let’s get started.

Jacket
Are you a 2 or 3 button kind of guy? I prefer none and just a belt.

The Fit: The gi coat fits like a well-tailored suit and I have a pretty awkward build. My long arms were welcomed in by the spacious but not baggy sleeves, the skirt lapels actually went down below my hips, I have a pretty odd torso so this was a shock. I am serious when I say the gi jacket felt like it was a well-tailored suit coat. Not enough material to hinder movements and feel awkward but just enough to sink in perfect lapel chokes in style.

- 550gsm durable gold weave jacket
- White Lapel Piping
- White embroidery
- Extra reinforcements in critical areas
- No contrast stitching
Pants
How big are your britches busta brown?
The Fit: When you purchase this gi it will include both ripstop and canvas pants, which is a killer feature. Some people like cucumbers better pickled, or in this case, gi pants ripstopped. I have long dancers legs and usually wear 34 x 34” jeans, the gi pants were the perfect fit. I want to take them in to every store from now on and just say “hey find me these in denim.” Or maybe Brendan can get into the denim business. I hear you can make a fortune in boiled denims.

The pants have a lighter than air feel to them and amazingly zero resistance. I always have issue in the knee area of pants when doing squats, not here. The drawstring that has 3 loops and a reinforced loops on each side was the perfect length for a double knot and there was minimal bunching in the back and on the sides. I am starting to get scared that there were spies sent in the break into my apartment, measure me, then get the figures over to Brendan before this gi was made.

- 12oz ripstop pants and 12oz canvas pants
- Knee reinforcements extend to bottom of pant leg
- Gold weave gusset (crotch)
- White embroidery
- Extra reinforcements in critical areas
- No contrast stitching
Overall
This gi is fantastic. Clean lines, great stitching, simple yet still fun, oh and it fits like a dream. Overall the gi felt on the lighter side which is nice. I will not credit it to an actual weight but I think just the feeling you get when something is just right.
We were joking at the gym when I put it on that the gi actually fits like a suit, I am a little disappointed that instead of a tie and loafers I had a Grappler Gourmet T-shirt and bare feet. Who am I kidding? I wouldn’t trade that shirt in for the world. But seriously, this is one of the best fitting gis I have put on, the threadwork is solid, the look is sleek and the price point is appealing.
Added Value
The box arrived with super fast shipping, I think Ok! Kimonos has The Flash as their delivery guy. The box is pretty stylish and right away before you even open it you know that you are a winner today because of the hilarious sticker and personalized note.
Now when you finally get your grubby paws into the package it really does feel like Christmas morning because your brand new gi is nestled in orange confetti that doubles as a cat toy. Along with the confetti and gi, I found within the box a little package.
Within this package I found a sticker, pin, awesome marvel card, inspirational card and most touching to me, a Magic the Gathering card, along with a personalized note to me written out on the inside of the box. The message really shows that Brendan over at Ok! Kimonos is truly taking customer service to the next level and is on the ground floor of the company himself. Dude sent me a magic card with a gi, he knows how to win me over.

Conclusion
Even if you aren’t in the market for a new gi, you should head over to Ok! Kimonos and snag one of these to replace or add to one in your current rotation. At $165 you get an excellent gi with two pairs of pants, a bunch of goodies and a smile.

I am right at 5-08 200lbs. I want to buy the A2Husky but am worried it will be too big as it is for 220 – 260. Any advice?
