Bull Terrier Gi Reviews

Bull Terrier Gi

Bull Terrier is a Japanese company that has sponsored a who’s who of BJJ players including: Rodolfo Vieira, Claudio Calasans, Rafael Mendes, Guilherme Mendes, Rubens Cobrinha Charles, Roberto Satoshi Souza, and Bruno Frazatto.

Bull Terrier are known for having a TON of different styles of gis and also for being one of the flashiest gi brands on the market (which suits me just FINE!!!).  A Bull Terrier gi can easily be identified by its incredibly flashy patches, but others are very very simple in design and content.

A Bull Terrier Gi isn’t cheap, but is generally regarded as being worth the price.  Bull Terrier was one of the first companies to use contrast stitching, large patches, interior gi lining, limited editions, etc.  ALL ON THE SAME GI!

Dokebi Bros Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Gi Review

Dokebi Bros Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Gi Review

One of the more unique Gi offerings I’ve come across in my Brazilian Jiu Jitsu journey is the Dokebi Bro’s Balance Gi. Unique in the sense that it is the only Gi that I’ve personally come across that is made in South Korea.

It’s a strong gi, it reminds me of a cross between a Judo Gi and a BJJ Gi. It’s a got a very durable 450gsm Single Weave, but it’s also quite soft. They’ve gone for a traditionalist and old school take on the BJJ kimono, I’d say they’ve definitely succeeded in that regard.

Muaewear Oniwakamaru Gi Review

muaewear-oniwakamaru-gi-review-banner2

Summary

Wow.  Just F*cking Wow…

Introduction

That’s how I felt when I first saw this gi, and even moreso when I received it in the mail directly from Muae.

Muaewear really came storming out of the gates, but unlike Kingz Kimonos, who stormed out with 3 very solid basic gis (420 Light, Comp 550, and Ripstop), Muaewear focused all of their efforts on a single, premium, limited-edition kimono that really caters to the gi collector/addict/aficionado.

The Rook by CTRL Industries Gi Review

Official Gi Review of The Rook by CTRL Industries

Summary

The Rook was the third gi made by CTRL Industries.  Their first gi really piqued my interest and I definitely wanted to check it out, but I wasn’t so sure as a new gi company was popping up every day.

Let me say this.

Based on The Rook, not only is CTRL Industries here to stay and become a major player in the BJJ scene, but I’m super upset that I never got that first Carioca gi.

At the end of my review is Joshua Barrow’s own review of The Rook. Click here to skip to that part.

Koral New Classic Kimono Gi Review

Gi Review: Koral New Classic Kimono

Koral New Classic Kimono

The Koral New Classic kimonos are the newest version of the older Koral Classic gis.  They’re still made of 100% cotton and should be preshrunk.  As one of the largest gi manufacturers, Koral usually provides a standard product generally free of major flaws and errors.

For the Koral New Classic changed their lettering around a bit (I liked the old style better) and you see that reflected on the new pants.  Also, there is no large back patch like the MKM Competition gi.

Manto Select Gi Review

Gi Review: Manto Select

Manto Select Review

The Manto Select gi is a single weave lightweight gi with improved pants compared to Manto’s first gi offering.  There are extra belt loops and the pants have a rope drawstring similar to Shoyoroll gis.  The fit is pretty snug (not baggy) and there is no seam on the back of the gi.
