Three Things Most Women's Gi Guides Never Tell You
1. You can often buy the jacket and pants in different sizes
This is the single most useful thing on this page. If your top and bottom halves are different sizes, and for most women they are, you do not have to compromise. War Tribe sells split sizes as standard: W1/W2, W2/W3, W3/W4, W1/W3, W2/W4 and more, where the first number is the jacket and the second is the pants. Fenom will also pair a standard jacket with curvy pants.
If you have been buying one size and living with a compromise, this alone will change how your gi fits.
2. Short cuts exist, and almost nobody advertises them
War Tribe runs an S suffix on several women's sizes (W2S, W3S, and combinations like W2S/W3S and W2S/W4S) for shorter athletes who need the width but not the length. If you are under about 5'4" and have been rolling your sleeves and cuffs, look for these before you buy another standard cut.
3. Women's sizing is not always your best fit
93 Brand say this openly and it is worth repeating: some women fit the men's A sizes better, particularly taller athletes with longer limbs. Their example is a 5'8", 145 lb grappler who may be better in a men's A1 than any F size. There is no direct conversion between the two systems, so if you sit at the top of the women's chart, compare both. Most brands will advise if you email your height and weight.

Light at around three pounds, heavily reinforced at the stress points, pre shrunk, and cut with sleeves that are trim without falling foul of IBJJF measurements. How to Choose Your Size
Measure first, then read the chart. Height and weight get you close, but the fit problems are in the details: bust, hip, and inseam. Write yours down before you shop.
Identify your mismatch. If your jacket and pant sizes differ by one step or more, go straight to a brand offering split sizing. That is the fix, not compromising on one size.
Check the shrinkage. Pre shrunk gis fit as bought. Anything else will move. Read our washing and shrinking guide before the first wash, because a hot dryer will take a good women's fit to a tight one fast.
